If so, you might enjoy these blue irises that recently finished blooming. Â Even though it didnât seem likely, I couldnât stop trying to capture their unique loveliness with my pen and paint. Theyâre gone now, but should return again and again, for us to see their rich intense beauty.
This one, the âmessiestâ, which I drew using the flowerâs shadows, just happens to be my favorite.

Iâve sketched this little guy before, but when a flower fell nearby, it seemed like a good time to add a new one.
Being home more means my growing things get more attention. Â Watered some zucchini last week and decided to sketch one with the blooms just starting. 
Two days later, one of the blooms was wide open, smiling at the sun! Yep, time for another sketch…

These brilliant poppies appear in my yard every year, even though I don’t do anything special to them. In fact, the first few years I lived here, I weed-whacked ’em down, thinking they were a nuisance! I’m so glad they stuck around.
I recently travelled to Laguna Beach, CA for a marketing seminar – the place we stayed at was gorgeous! Â I loved that I could hear the ocean at night – hey, it sounded just like the app on my phone!
